Scorpion Open 2010 - English Institute for Sport Sheffield
The day started with Radord Love (-39kg) and Josh Furness (-55kg) having to moving up a weight group not having made their entry weights.
this meant that they would be both at the bottom of their new groups.
The first of the day was Radford Love in the Quater Finals who was fighting an experienced Black belt from Scorpion Taekwondo Club who was slightly taller and a lot heavier than Radford, inspite all this Radford held his own in the 1st Round but unfortunaley in the second round the experience of his appointed started to show and he pulled away with a 10 point gap which automatically stopped the fight, this was a brave 1st fight for Radford and he is determined to improve on his performance in the future.
The second fight of the day was a straight final for Josh Furness who completely out played is appoinent winning with an impressive 10 - 0 victory, picking up the Gold Medal
The third fight of the day was Sammy Noor who and the biggest task of the Pilsung Team having to win 4 straight fights for the Gold, his first outing was against "Puma Taekwondo" this match was a very tough the scores constanly changed with each player switching the advantage many times throughout the entire match due to the high number of head shots being scored with Sammy eventually coming out on top with a 18 - 15 victory. Sammy Second match was just as tough as the first against "Team Taekwondo" who came out very strong and kept up the momentum all the way through the match eventually pulling away with a comfortable 5 - 13 win over Sammy. Sammy was very proud of his performance and said that this event really opened his eyes into how tough a sport fighting really is and is determined to improve on his performance and take it to a whole new level.
The final fight of the day was a Semi Final match with Zakarya Al-yaffai who was facing "Scorpion Taekwondo" this was Zakarya 2nd Taekwondo fight and was looking forward to continuing his success from his pervious 1 - 1 victory in Barnsley the previous month the fight started quickly with his appoinent putting 5 points on the board within the first 1 minute and 5 seconds before the end of the first round he had clocked up 10 unchallenged points and this automatically stopped the fight giving the victory to "Scorpion Taekwondo" Zakarya was gutted by this defeat but was very up beat and is determined to train even harder to make amends.
